Speed and power - an awesome vehicle!

The MkII Jag was the car of choice for many UK police forces in the 1960s – and according to the officers privileged to have driven it, had excellent handling and ample speed and power to enable top police officers such as Jack Slipper to catch the villains of the day such as the Krays and the gang behind the infamous Great Train Robbery.

The Jag would have been primarily involved in high speed pursuits on the fledgling motorway system, which until 1965 didn’t have a speed limit! And, of course, anyone who has watched The Sweeney, that grittiest of cop shows, will know that the MKII Jag was still in use well into the 1970s – by police and crooks alike. Basically, everybody loved the MKII Jaguar. And who can blame them?

Wheels of speed!

The Jag had an impressive top speed of 125 mph. Police forces had the option of using 2.4, 3.4 or 3.8 litre variants – the latter being the most powerful with a 0-60 of only 8.5 seconds. What a car! Even today, retired officers get misty eyed with nostalgia remembering this beautiful vehicle. This superb model has a heavy die-cast metal body with carefully moulded plastic details.

The beautiful chrome features of the original car such as its wire spoke wheels are faithfully reproduced in carefully moulded ‘metallic’ plastic.
