Symbols of a bygone age of emperors, kaisers and Czars
Nowadays the Fabergé Eggs are priceless – not just because they were exquisitely fashioned from the finest gems by the master jeweller, Peter Carl Fabergé, but because of what they stand for: a metaphor for a golden, European Imperial age washed away by the tide of the Great War and the Russian Revolution of 1917.
Once owned by the Russian Romanov family, many Fabergé Eggs have since been owned by some of the world’s richest people, including our own Queen Elizabeth. She is a direct relative of the last Russian Czar, Nicholas II, whose dynasty tragically ended in 1918 , when Lenin and his Bolsheviks seized power and Russia was plunged into a new Dark Age from which it has only just begun to emerge.
Celebrate the golden heritage of the Fabergé workshops
In honour of this vanished age of opulence and empire, we have commissioned this fine matching pair of Fabergé-style 'Eggs of the Czars'.
The Nest of Pearls
Fashioned in genuine pure, white enamel – the colour of Mother Russia, it is also encrusted with 90 cut-glass crystals to symbolise the purity of the Czarina. The inside is decorated with mother-of-pearl effect enamel to represent fertility.
The Harlequin
The unmistakable, bold red-and-white chequered enamel pattern symbolises masculinity and strength, while the vivid red stands for the blood of Czar Alexander II, assassinated in 1881, blended with the white of Mother Russia.
Each Egg’s height is approximately 87mm (3 1/2 in) and weighs a bulky 150 grammes – that’s the effect of that enamelling for you! Both Eggs come complete with a magnetic clasp.
An authentic memento of a vanished era
Both Eggs of the Czars come complete with their own attractive box, lined with luxuriant satin-effect material and matching golden stands. You'll also receive with each Egg a Certificate of Authenticity which recounts the tragic fate of the Romanov dynasty and the incredible achievements of master goldsmith Peter Carl Fabergé.
The Fabergé Eggs were created in an age when Kings and Emperors enjoyed unimaginable wealth. But times were changing. Revolution was in the air. In Russia, the ‘mad monk’ Rasputin help exercised his dark power over the Czar’s family, cutting them off from the people and paving the way for the bloody revolution of 1917.
PLUS, when you order your Eggs of the Czars for just £3.99 (+ FREE p&p) you will also receive a specially chosen Mystery Gift, absolutely FREE.
